How to Get Rid of Loose Skin During Weight Loss

If you are losing a considerable amount of weight, you are going to notice at one time or another that you will have some loose skin. This skin for some people is a little bit more than wanted as it tends to hang off the body. There are a few things that you can do to help with this problem.


The first thing that you need to do is make sure that you are properly hydrated. Skin health and hydration goes together. Be sure you are getting plenty of water which improves the overall health of your skin. Drink plenty of water every day, especially if you are a coffee or alcohol drinker.


On that same note, eat foods that you need to be eating for skin health. For the most part this means getting plenty of vegetables and fruits into your diet. These will help the look of the skin improve and help get your skin to shrink back a bit.


Many times the look will improve as you lose more weight. At times the loose skin is actually a mix of excess fat and skin. Getting rid of the fat will help the problem quite a bit.


Loose weight slower. If your skin is starting to hang off your body, slow down on the weight loss. This gives your skin a bit of time to catch back up.


Moisturize your skin each day. This will help it stay the way it needs to be so that it can continue being healthy. Make of point of doing it daily no matter how tired or short of time you may be.


Do exercises that will help you build muscle. While you are losing fat you can replace some of that space with muscle. This makes it easier for the skin to fit around your body. You may find that exercise is much different and pleasurable now that you've lost some weight.


Give yourself some time. Many people have hit a goal weight and have had to wait upwards of a year before the skin starts to shrink around the body better.


If it's been well more than a year, there is something called body contouring surgery that is an option. This removes the excess skin and tightens what is there around your body. You can check with your doctor or medical provider for options.


And remember, you've lost weight. That is a great thing!
